The Japan foundation offers programmes to financially support those who want to be involved in cultural activities between Japan and abroad.
On the website of the Japanese Embassy in the Netherlands, under culture and education, a section ‘’Japan Foundation Programmes’’ can be found. Here you can find how The Japan Foundation supports programmes in the areas of “Arts and Cultural Exchange”, “Japanese-Language Education Overseas” and “Japanese Studies and Intellectual Exchange”. Individuals or organizations that are looking to exchange cultural activities will be eligible for this program. (Embassy of Japan in The Netherlands, 2020). The focus will be on one of the programmes that provides financial support for Japanese artists who want to work abroad.
Grant Program for Dispatching Artists and Cultural Specialists
Are you a Japanese artist who wants to travel to a foreign country in order to improve your skills by broadening your perspective? Or do you want to attract Japanese artists to collaborate with? The Grant Program for Dispatching Artists and Cultural Specialists makes this possible, with financial support.
‘’The Grant Program for Dispatching Artists and Cultural Specialists is designed to provide financial support for artists and Japanese cultural specialists who participate in cultural events (e.g., performances, demonstrations, lectures, and workshops) overseas with the aim of introducing Japanese arts and culture or of contributing to international society through arts and cultural projects’’ (Japan Foundation, 2020).
If you are interested in this program it is good to know that there are two separate rounds for the applicants. The deadline for the first round of application is at December 1, 2020 and the deadline for the second round is at June 1, 2021.
